OK, first, there's this funky growth coming out of one of my plants. 2 different funky growths, actually - the tiny little pineapple looking thing (a seed pod, perhaps?) on the right, and the weird little doohicky with hands on the bottom. Ideas, anyone?
UPDATE: the stem with hands is the beggings of a blossom! I didn't know these guys bloomed. And the pineapple is a seed pod. I may as well give propagation a shot. How about it, James - want a croton seedling if I'm successful?
I have a huge monstera that I moved into the office to give the croton above some company. I'm hanging the curtains I'm making (yes, remember those?) in the room the monstera was in and it won't get enough light in there when they are up.
Second, I'm going to do a before-Aruba and after-Aruba comparison of my skin so I can gauge my tan.
I went to the tanning bed last night, (you know the saying, fight cancer with cancer), so it's not an entirely fair comparison, but close enough.
So here's the before:
To try to keep it as accurate as possible, I'll take the after photo in the same room at the same time of day.

Exfoliate and then use the tanning creams, like Jergens or Neutrogena...skin cancer is so crap, man, with the cutting out of pieces of meat and the crying and everything...
I know, it's hard to resist but your skin will thank you when you're a senior citizen and you still look like you're in your 40s...(how the hell old are you now, actually?)
Tanya - it's my biggest vice - you'll have to pry my tanning lotion from my cold, dead hands.
But don't worry - I work hard not to burn (the biggest skin cancer risk) and I have yellow undertones to my skin, which means I'm in a lower risk category. And all I really want is a nice, golden glow. You won't see me looking like Donatella Versace/a Dooney & Bourke handbag - no way!
Oh...and I'm 34.
DONATELLA, ohmygod! The horror! I love how Maya Rudolph does her on SNL.
When are you off on your trip, anyway, soon?
I'm 36.
We leave on Wednesday. I have Arubaitis.
Yeah, I'll take one if you can get it to grow. I think I'm going to have a lot of spare plants again this year, more so than last. Think you might need some more maters? I got a variety this year that supposedly grows well in containers even.
James - I can always use more 'maters. If I plant them more expeditiously this year I might even get more than half a dozen off each plant!
I'll keep you posted on the croton.
