Gross-out

I am a festering pustule.

Actually, I am two.

I'm feeling better, but now I'm suffering from the delightful consequence that oft comes from me getting sick. Or sunburned. Or stressed. Or a hair crossed the wrong way. That consequence is a fever blister. Yes folks, I am an unfortunate carrier of herpes simplex 1. And I'm having an outbreak.

Not just one. Two.

And one is nestled firmly in the corner of the mouth, the most painful place to get one. Youch. It cracks every time I open my craw.

Ooh, here's a comforting fact I just found about this particular strain:

"In very rare cases HSV- 1 can spread spontaneously to the brain, causing herpes encephalitis, a dangerous infection that can lead to death."

Cool, huh?

And just because I know you're dying for it, here's a peek at my herpetic ulcers.

Thanks for the warning, freak!

Seriously, I hope you can take some Valtrexx or something for it. I get mouth cankers and Rowbear also gets regular cold sores. We've never cross pollinated each other, but those big blue pills are amazing!

Are the dogs keeping their distance from you?

Oh. My. Gosh. Haha - Thanks for sharing!! :) I, like you, get fever blisters when...ohh..well, pretty much anything is going on in my body. When I get stressed or tired, I always calm down by reminding myself that I don't want a painful fever blister!

Tanya - I've got some topical acyclovir that I use. We always stock up on it whenever we leave the US, as you still need a prescription for it here. I've never tried Valtrex - does that work better?

And nothing could keep my kerpupples away from me!

Sarah - I've never tried that approach. I think I'll give it a shot!

Valtrexx is like a miracle drug. I never knew about it until my husband's doctor told him about it.

As soon as you feel the tingle coming on that a sore is starting, you take the giant horse pill (I think they're monstrously huge, I need a sandwich to wash it down!) and the breakout will either not happen, or only last about a day (instead of 10 days or more!).

And here in Canadia we need prescriptions for it, but you might not down there. I'm not sure. (it's interesting to note that some items here are over-the-counter compared to the US, and vice versa).

And again, I love the Kerpupples, they're so wonderful! I wouldn't even use a long pointed stick to push a glass of water to you! (kidding, I'm kidding!)

Gosh, that thing is scary! But just think, if you take Valtrex you and Paris Hilton will have something in common! I know how you love her. ;)

Wait, are you pregnant?

Tanya - I did some reading and I think I'll ask my doctor for some Valtrex (I sound like a damn commercial).

Chel - yep, and I'm sure Paris takes it for fever blisters too.

Snay - that thing growing out of my lip may be the size of a baby but it's not. We have been trying to get pregnant so I can understand your confusion.

Thank God this wasn't on your ass. That picture would have scarred me for life!
